For now, only available in Philadelphia, PA only. Once your order is placed. we will get busy growing your conks! This process takes anywhere from 1-3 months. We will update you with an approx “mint” date for your fresh conks as your conks approach maturity. There will be flexibility.

We recommend visiting our farm to do your etching on site with your selection of the freshest conks. We have some etching implements for you to use and provide a few “scratch” conks to practice on. If you are taking your conks to the studio, plan to go straight there with them and get etching right away.

Reishi pore-etching takes some getting used to. It can be an extremely sensitive canvas, allowing for very fine detail, but not the entire surface is perfectly smooth. We care for our reishi throughout their growth to make for ideal living canvases, but nonetheless there are bumps, waves, and other irregularities which can be challenging, though fun to incorporate into your piece. For this reason, you may want to plan for two or more sessions.

The best way to dry your conks for maximum contrast is to sun-dry them. The pore surface actually expresses vitamin D2 when exposed to sunlight. Whether it’s the D or not, sun-dried reishi pores stay whiter, making the darker natural inks “pop” more when dried.
